Those Who Judge (Terza Rima Sonnet)

What I have found about the ones who judge
The worth of others with a scornful eye,
They are the ones who would also begrudge

This judgment on themselves and will decry
The acts of others, pointing out their faults,
Entitled to opinions, they’ll reply,

And quick to make the first verbal assaults,
Exemplifying prejudice and fear.
Short-circuited, life is a lonely waltz

Where in the end the verdict’s most severe
On those who think that it’s their right to wield
A gavel, masking self-doubts with a sneer.

For when you judge, impossible to shield
Are truths about you that will be revealed.
